Harsányan japán ellenes film, ahogy megpróbálja közvetíteni a japán élet és a filozófia megértését. Egyesült Államok is könnyebben alakitsa ki az ellenség képét. A film ugy ábrázolja japánt, mint a "primitív, gyilkos és fanatikus országot." A sok kép a 1930-as és 1940-es években készült Japánban. A lekicsinylő és rendkívül negatív narrátor Joseph C. volt amerikai Japán nagykövet.

A két film több azonos felvételt tartalmaz, feltehetően japán hiradókból.

Conquest of the Air

Conquest of the Air was a 1936 documentary film on the evolution of aviation, up until the early stages of World War Two. It features historical footage of the developments of commercial and military aviation; including the early stages of technology developments in design, propulsion, and air navigation aids. It was a London Films production, commissioned by the Air Ministry of the British Government.

It appears that the film was initially commissioned by Alexander Korda prior to the advent of WW2 - and the Air Ministry saw the value in promoting Britain's contribution and leadership in aviation during this period. Some fascinating footage is featured of the early phases of automated flight, navigational equipment, and the transitions between civil and military developments. This includes heavy bombers; fast fighter aircraft and the advent of naval aviation (aircraft carrier), plus the initial experiments with vertical rotary flight (helicopters).

Robert J. Flaherty-Korda Zoltan:Elefant Fiu (1937)

Rudyard Kipling novelláját "Tumáj az Elefánt"-ot kelti életre ebben az izgalmas kis filmben Sir Alexander Korda.
Több eredeti anyag került a filmre, kicsit összeszőve. A változásokat Kipling (elhunyt 1936-ban) ténylegesen jóváhagyta, a kis mesék tönkretétele nélkül sikerült integrálni.

A helyszin kiválasztásában személyesen nyújtott segitséget a Mysore Maharadzsa, felajánlva saját földjeit. A valóságban a film nem sok stúdióban készült felvételt tartalmaz.

A címszerepet, 13 éves, Sabu Dastagir játsza. Ez volt az első nagyjátékfilmje. Ő fiatal Elephant Boy, aki arról álmodik, vadász lesz, mint az apja, nagyapja és dédapja. (forditsd le jobban!)

(A film népszerüségére jellemző, hogy ausztráliában a mai napig létezik a róla elnevezett szórakozóhely-kávéház hálózat, usában számitógép üzlet, stb. A filmet többször ujraforgatták, az eredetit meg sem közelitő sikerrel.)

"Fatty" Arbuckle és Buster Keaton, vitathatatlanul a legnagyobb vígjáték csapat a maga idejében. 1918-ban összeálltak egy western-vígjátékban. Figyelmeztetni kell, van egy jelenet a film közepén, amely sértheti bizonyos fekete amerikaiak önbecsölését. Ez nem rontja el a filmet.
